While the Sentinel may be overpopulated in low-level flashpoints, it has the added advantage of being able to queue up for PvP and do very well. The first thing you should know about leveling as a Guardian is that dungeons are tuned very easy for leveling up. This means that you do not actually have to spec full tanking in order to tank low-level flashpoints.

You will want to put some points in Vigilance and some in Defense if this is the case. You will need the minimum talent points in Vigilance that allow you to do damage, because when you are playing solo you do not want to deal zero damage.

Also, you should consider picking up the companion that can deal damage if you play as a Guardian. You won’t take much damage if you have a lot of points in defense, so anything that can boost your damage up will help out quite a bit.
